Tips for Twitter users

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Capability

If you've been tweeting for a while you may find these tips helpful:

1. If you start a tweet with someone's Twitter name, for example: '@timolloyd ...' Then only @timolloyd, you, and people who follow both of you, will see the tweet. If you want all your followers to see this, you'll need to begin your tweet with a full stop: '.@timolloyd...'

2. You can now simply copy and paste links into Twitter and they'll automatically be shortened. No need to worry about using a separate link shortener.

3. Twitter has a private message function for people who are following each other. Look out for the envelope symbol on your screen, and type in the name of the person you wish to message. It's probably not the place for sensitive message though, or personal details, just in case.

4. Lists allow you to find people, add them to a list and then read what they have to say in one screen. You could experiment by starting a list of tweeters in your local area, or a round a particular topic.
