Focus area: Pubs
Regulator concerned: My comments are general and do not relate to a particular regulator or regulatory function
Comment:
I am a law abiding, ex military and highly conscientious licensee. My role in the military left me trusted with the security of this country; however now it seems that my ability to be able to carry out the comparatively simple role of a licensee is being questioned.
I am horrified by the way our pub is also being unfairly treated with regard to licensing issues. When we have defended ourselves, we have been misconstrued.
I am in despair by the continual harassment that we are receiving, which takes me away from carrying out my responsibilities as DPS . I am seriously considering giving up my job, as this issue is affecting my health. I am concerned that my occupation is under threat from the police and local authorities. I cannot see fault in the way we operate our business and as such I feel the police are totally misplaced. It is absurd that they are telling us how to conduct our business and shocking that they should try to coerce me into signing their action plan.
I fail to see that any of the incidents that have resulted in us telephoning the police could be construed as us not adhering to the licensing legislation or poor management. Indeed if anything are conducive to preventing antisocial behavior. It seems to me ridiculous that we are being penalized for our conscientious management.
