I am a Fire Door Consultant and help businesses comply with the RRO (Fire Safety) 2005. I have found that many businesses believe that Fire Safety improvements to their buildings will be costly to implement. This is not necessarily true and businesses should be encouraged to approach fire safety specialists for help and advice. Trade organisations can help by ensuring members work to a code of conduct and do not try to force sales of unnecessary services/products to uninformed businesses.
