My experience in the fire service as a fire safety inspecting officer certainly tells me that not a lot of companys or persons who conduct such activities such as fire safety advice and quoting the law do not have either the necessary experience or qualifications to do so. The law regarding fire safety is simply explicit and was created in such as way to assist persons not acquainted with it to be able to react to it, all they should realy need is a little guidance in the right direction. Two phrases used in the RRO are ” as far as is reasonably practicable” and ” where necessary”. The advice given should reflect this as should the fire risk assessment.
