I would be interested to learn of how other organisations have dealt with the dual issue of ensuring that they comply with building control/fire safety legislation in providing/maimatining fire escape windows on 1st (and above) floors of premises while at the same time ensuring that service users/residents are not exposed to the risk of falling from these windows. On one hand we are required to provide fire escape windows, while at the same time we are required to assess the potential risk of falling from windows and potentially fit tamperproof window restrictors – whatever decision we make can be crucial to the safety of our service users/residents.
